Rome est une ville tr\u00e8s int\u00e9ressante \u00e0 vivre, c\u2019est comme un mus\u00e9e \u00e0 ciel ouvert avec tant de monuments, et l\u2019histoire, comme le berceau de la civilisation. Nous avons toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 int\u00e9ress\u00e9s par les \u00c9critures sur Paul, mais vivre ici et faire des recherches sur son temps ici lui donne vraiment vie. <\/em><\/p>\n

L\u2019ap\u00f4tre Paul aurait vu certains de ces b\u00e2timents. Paul \u00e9tait un homme des plus extraordinaires, \u00e9lev\u00e9 comme un juif strict et form\u00e9 comme un rabbin. Il a pers\u00e9cut\u00e9 les premiers chr\u00e9tiens \u00e0 J\u00e9rusalem, mais il a ensuite eu une conversion remarquable lorsque le Seigneur J\u00e9sus lui est apparu et lui a parl\u00e9. <\/em><\/p>\n

Paul a pass\u00e9 le reste de sa vie au service du Christ. Comment Paul est venu \u00e0 Rome est une histoire tr\u00e8s int\u00e9ressante. Il fut attaqu\u00e9 par une foule juive \u00e0 J\u00e9rusalem et secouru juste \u00e0 temps par des soldats romains. Il fut ensuite d\u00e9tenu pendant deux ans \u00e0 C\u00e9sar\u00e9e, mais sans qu\u2019aucune accusation ne soit port\u00e9e contre lui, il fit alors appel \u00e0 l\u2019empereur romain. Cela signifiait qu\u2019il \u00e9tait transf\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00e0 Rome et qu\u2019il faisait naufrage en route \u00e0 Malte. <\/em><\/p>\n

C\u2019est la voie Appienne, via Appia qui est la route que Paul a emprunt\u00e9e pour atteindre la capitale. Les Fr\u00e8res de Rome sont venus \u00e0 la rencontre de Paul au Forum d\u2019Appi. Ils ont parcouru environ 40 miles anglais pour venir rencontrer Paul sur le chemin de Rome, ce qui a encourag\u00e9 Paul. C\u2019est lui, ici \u00e0 Tre Fontane, qu\u2019il a \u00e9t\u00e9 ex\u00e9cut\u00e9, et c\u2019est le dernier tron\u00e7on de route qu\u2019il aurait emprunt\u00e9. Comme il avait le statut de citoyen romain, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 ex\u00e9cut\u00e9 par l\u2019\u00e9p\u00e9e romaine. <\/em><\/p>\n

Il s\u2019agit de Saint-Paul, la plus grande abbaye de Rome apr\u00e8s Saint-Pierre. Apr\u00e8s la mort de Paul, son corps a \u00e9t\u00e9 soign\u00e9 par des chr\u00e9tiens et plac\u00e9 dans un tombeau familial \u00e0 proximit\u00e9. Celle-ci est devenue un sanctuaire, qui a ensuite \u00e9t\u00e9 transform\u00e9 en \u00e9glise et a \u00e9t\u00e9 reconstruit \u00e0 plusieurs reprises et est maintenant cette grande basilique. <\/em><\/p>\n
