S\u00e4tt dig ner med Pino D’Amato, medlem av Plymouth Brethren Christian Church<\/span> (PBCC)<\/span>. Se en glimt av hans liv n\u00e4r han tar dig med p\u00e5 en rundtur i hans <\/span>hemstad<\/span>, Rom, Italien<\/span>. <\/span> <\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Jag v\u00e4xte upp i Neapelbukten, alldeles i n\u00e4rheten av Vesuvius. Det \u00e4r ett vackert omr\u00e5de att bo i men f\u00f6r tr\u00e5ngt. S\u00e5 f\u00f6r 4 \u00e5r sedan best\u00e4mde vi oss f\u00f6r att flytta till Rom med v\u00e5r familj – v\u00e5r son Fabio och hans tv\u00e5 barn. <\/em><\/p>\n

Rom \u00e4r en mycket intressant stad att bo i, det \u00e4r som ett friluftsmuseum med s\u00e5 m\u00e5nga monument och historia, som civilisationens vagga. Vi har alltid varit intresserade av skrifterna om Paulus, men n\u00e4r vi bor h\u00e4r och forskar om hans tid h\u00e4r blir de verkligen levande. <\/em><\/p>\n

Aposteln Paulus skulle ha sett n\u00e5gra av de h\u00e4r byggnaderna. Paulus var en h\u00f6gst extraordin\u00e4r man, som uppfostrades som en str\u00e4ng jude och utbildades till rabbin. Han f\u00f6rf\u00f6ljde de f\u00f6rsta kristna i Jerusalem, men fick sedan en anm\u00e4rkningsv\u00e4rd omv\u00e4ndelse n\u00e4r Herren Jesus faktiskt uppenbarade sig och talade till honom. <\/em><\/p>\n

Paulus tillbringade resten av sitt liv i h\u00e4ngiven tj\u00e4nst f\u00f6r Kristus. Hur Paulus kom till Rom \u00e4r en mycket intressant historia. Han anf\u00f6lls av en judisk p\u00f6belhop i Jerusalem och r\u00e4ddades precis i tid av romerska soldater. Han h\u00f6lls sedan i f\u00f6rvar i tv\u00e5 \u00e5r i Caesarea, men utan att n\u00e5got \u00e5tal riktades mot honom v\u00e4nde han sig till den romerske kejsaren. Detta betydde att han f\u00f6rflyttades till Rom och led skeppsbrott p\u00e5 v\u00e4gen till Malta. <\/em><\/p>\n

Detta \u00e4r Via Appia, som \u00e4r den v\u00e4g som Paulus marscherade l\u00e4ngs f\u00f6r att n\u00e5 huvudstaden. Br\u00f6derna fr\u00e5n Rom kom f\u00f6r att m\u00f6ta Paulus p\u00e5 Appi Forum. De reste cirka 40 engelska mil f\u00f6r att komma och m\u00f6ta Paulus p\u00e5 hans v\u00e4g till Rom och detta uppmuntrade Paulus. S\u00e5 sm\u00e5ningom h\u00f6rsammades Paulus v\u00e4djan, troligen av kejsar Nero, vi vet inte om han sedan sl\u00e4pptes och arresterades p\u00e5 nytt senare eller h\u00f6lls som f\u00e5nge. <\/em><\/p>\n

Det sista vi har av Paulus \u00e4r hans andra brev till Timoteus, d\u00e4r han tydligen f\u00f6rv\u00e4ntar sig att slutet ska komma snart och ber Timoteus att komma till honom snart. Det finns inga autentiska redog\u00f6relser f\u00f6r Paulus sista dagar, men enligt traditionen d\u00f6mdes han till d\u00f6den vid n\u00e5got tillf\u00e4lle. Det var han h\u00e4r vid Tre Fontane som han avr\u00e4ttades, och detta \u00e4r den sista v\u00e4gstr\u00e4cka som han skulle ha g\u00e5tt p\u00e5. Eftersom han hade status som romersk medborgare avr\u00e4ttades han med det romerska sv\u00e4rdet. <\/em><\/p>\n

Detta \u00e4r St Paul’s, det st\u00f6rsta klostret i Rom efter St Peters. Efter Paulus d\u00f6d togs hans kropp om hand av kristna och placerades i en familjegrav i n\u00e4rheten. Detta blev en helgedom, som senare utvecklades till en kyrka och byggdes om ett antal g\u00e5nger och \u00e4r nu denna stora basilika. <\/em><\/p>\n

Graven under altaret har emellertid f\u00f6rblivit intakt under hela \u00e5teruppbyggnaden och \u00e4r omsorgsfullt bevarad som den troliga sista viloplatsen f\u00f6r den store aposteln som \u00e4gnade sitt liv \u00e5t att tj\u00e4na sin M\u00e4stare.<\/em><\/p>\n

Vi k\u00e4nner att det \u00e4r en stor \u00e4ra att f\u00e5 b\u00e4ra vittnesb\u00f6rdet vidare h\u00e4r i Rom, d\u00e4r den store aposteln levde en tid och gav sitt liv f\u00f6r att vittna om Kristus.<\/em><\/p>\n
