HORSHAM MEMBERS JOIN GREAT BRITISH SPRING CLEAN

A number of members of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church live in the Rusper village, and 24 members participated in the recent Spring Clean, showing their care and support of the local area.

From surveys after the 2023 campaign, around 95% of people agreed they felt they had made a difference to their local area. 91% said they felt part of a national movement that is taking action to tackle litter.

It was a successful event in Rusper! Within three hours, volunteers had collected over 35 sacks of litter. The local residents were appreciative of the achievements of those involved, and a PBCC member commented,

“It was great to be involved and do something for the Council I live and work in.”

About the Great British Spring Clean

The Great British Spring Clean is the nation’s biggest mass-action environmental campaign. It and the Great Big School Clean 2024 took place from 15 – 31 March. This year, the army of amazing #LitterHeroes pledged to pick up more than 400,000 bags of litter. More than 309,000 volunteers in every corner of the country took part in the national effort to remove bags of rubbish from our streets, parks and beaches.

The charity was founded in 1954 when the National Federation of Women’s Institutes passed a resolution to ‘Keep Britain Tidy’. This year was its landmark 70th year of protecting the environment.
