Rapid Relief Team Bring Warmth and Relief

The Rapid Relief Team (RRT), the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, joined United Carolina’s Cavalry (UCC) “Bring the Heat” Propane Swap Event in Asheville, NC, this weekend, bringing warmth and essential supplies to families still recovering from the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene in September.

As winter temperatures show no signs of abating, the event provided a lifeline to community members in need, gathered at Covenant Community Church. Thanks to a generous donation from Blue Rhino, families received propane tanks to fuel heaters and stoves, ensuring they could stay warm through the colder months.

In addition to hundreds of warm meals, RRT and UCC distributed coats, hats, gloves, heaters, socks, and blankets—essential items for those still struggling to rebuild after the storm.

“Disaster recovery doesn’t end when the storm passes—it’s a long road to rebuilding,” said Eric Rochat, Rapid Relief Team Leader. “By providing propane, warm clothing, and a hot meal, we’re making sure that families affected by Hurricane Helene know they’re not alone in this journey.”

United Carolina’s Calvary, a North and South Carolina-based nonprofit committed to swift disaster relief, played a key role as chief organizer of the event. The group utilizes air, ground, and water transport to deliver urgent aid in times of crisis, ensuring those in need receive timely support.

The “Bring the Heat” event in Asheville was a testament to the power of collaboration and community. By working together, RRT, UCC, and generous partners like Blue Rhino made a meaningful difference in the lives of those still recovering from Hurricane Helene.
