RRT supports Convoy for Kids in Goulburn

The Rapid Relief Team (RRT), the charitable arm of the Church, has served up around 1,600 meals at a Convoy for Kids Goulburn event raising funds in support of local children living with cancer, terminal illnesses, disabilities and special needs.

The charity, which was established in 1999 by local volunteers, holds an annual street convoy which sees vehicles from the local trucking community parade through Goulburn.

Starting at Goulburn Gateway Service Centre, the convoy tracked through the city before ending at Goulburn Recreation Area. The event culminated in a day-long carnival where the RRT volunteers pitched their red tents and fired up the grill.

RRT Local Team Leader Steve Lee said 1,600 hot meals and refreshments were served in a combined 100-hour effort by volunteers.

“We are delighted to have supported this year’s Convoy for Kids Goulburn carnival. The charity plays an invaluable role in supporting local children facing significant challenges, a cause we passionately support,” Steve Lee said.

“20 of our local volunteers supported the day-long event, which provided a great opportunity for the local community to come together and raise considerable funds for the charity.

“Care and compassion are core values of the RRT and we’re glad we could put them into action. We look forward to continuing our support Convoy for Kids Goulburn in the years ahead.”

This support by the RRT helped the event to raise $90,000 for the charity, with the funds set to be donated to provide financial assistance to the children’s families, as well as to the Neonatal & Paediatric Emergency Transport Service.

Convoy for Kids Goulburn President Peter Caldow thanked the RRT for its support.

“It was a great event and we were able to raise much needed funds to go towards supporting kids with special needs. We’re grateful for the RRT’s support, and the food was a hit!” Peter said.

Response to unfortunate comments from the Australian Prime Minister

The Plymouth Brethren Christian Church was shocked and saddened today to hear the Australian Prime Minister called our church a cult. Our church has around 16,600 in Australia, and our members are regular Christian people who live by the teachings of the Holy Bible. The Prime Minister should be advocating for people of all religions […]
