RRT Supports RUOK Day

The Rapid Relief Team has served up almost 1,700 meals at RUOK Day events around the country, including at Leeton Public School, Warwick High School and Scottsdale High School, where students and teachers took time to check in on each other on the National Day of Action for suicide prevention. RRT volunteers had their signature burgers rolling off the grill as everyone talked about the importance of asking those close to them if they were okay. RRT Operations Manager Michael Dunn said RUOK Day is an important reminder for everyone to reach out to family, friends, colleagues and others in their lives to check in on them.

“Through RUOK Day people are six times more likely to reach out to someone and sometimes lending a listening ear is all those who might be struggling need to help them cope,” Michael said.

“Connection is important now more than ever with the busy lives people lead and RUOK Day is a great reminder that simply asking someone if they’re okay can make a huge difference.

“We can all help by asking, listening and supporting one another. That’s why the RRT has loaded up on our burgers and bacon and egg rolls right around the country, including here in Leeton, to give people an opportunity to come together, connect and have a chat.

“Of course, one of the best ways to stay in touch is to share a meal with someone, and RRT is so happy to be able to put on a breakfast or lunch to support RUOK Day events.”
