Meet Robbie Williams

Sit down with Robbie Williams, member of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church (PBCC), as he shares his experiences working for the charitable arm of the Church, the Rapid Relief Team (RRT).

Transcript:

I’m Rob and I work at RRT. My role here is the warehouse manager.

Rapid Relief Team is a charity, nonprofit organization, who are there to help people in need and support those either in crisis or helping out with crises. Whether that’s doing catering services for bush fires serving the firefighters on the front lines there.

Just recently we had floods here in the Penrith area and in surrounding regions, so we started making sandbags here at our facility at Emu Plains. Any sort of disasters, we will be there to provide some sort of support.

I’m a full-time employee, and we’ve just taken on an apprentice. If we have the opportunity, we will get a team of volunteers to make Food Boxes. RRT has a program where we send those out to different charities.

Recently we’ve just done an event where we went up to Queensland, St George, where we delivered over 300 ton of cattle feed to more than 300 Farmers there. The reason why that’s important is because the farmers out there are still struggling, even though some have recovered, they still need assistance and it’s important for us to recognize that and action something to support.

On a day-to-day basis I deal with a number of things here at our warehouse, whether that be restocking trailers, customer service with our volunteers, and freight and logistics.

What I enjoy about my job is the impact it has, knowing that I can make a difference, it’s good to see that your work is appreciated. It gives you a really good feeling as you know that you’re doing something to help somebody else out. So whether that is restocking a trailer or sending out Food Boxes, it is very rewarding you know that you’re making a difference.
