OSG Kenley donate 600 meals to local foodbank

Students from OneSchool Global’s (OSG) Kenley Campus in Croydon have led a successful campaign to secure donations for Caterham Foodbank.

Led by the school’s Student Leadership Team, the campaign saw the whole school community donate 256kg of items to the charity to help it provide emergency food and support to local people in crisis. The items raised included a wide range of long-life and non-perishable goods, such as pasta or tinned tomatoes, as well as fruit, chocolate, cereals, and toiletries.

OSG’s donation will help Caterham Foodbank further its mission to combat hunger and food insecurity in the local area. The charity will use it to prepare over 60 food parcels, amounting to 600 individual meals, with each parcel containing three days’ worth of food.

This latest campaign builds on OSG’s long-running commitment to support charities, with Year 10 students encouraged to organise their own fundraising activities for their ‘Active Citizenship Project.’ As part of this, students from the Kenley campus have held a sponsored bike ride and bake sale, which raised £7,000 for The Royal Marsden Hospital in London, and have also supported numerous other organisations, including Centrepoint, Epilepsy Action and the William Syndrome Foundation.

Mrs Levett, Assistant Campus Principal at OSG Kenley, said:

“It has been truly wonderful to once again see the generosity and collaboration of our students result in changing local people’s lives for the better.

“We are proud to have nurtured such a caring school community with students, staff, and stakeholders who all show generosity and compassion for others. I want to congratulate the Student Leadership Team for successfully coordinating this initiative, and say well done to everyone involved for their donations and eagerness to help out.”

“We want to say a huge thank you from all of us at Caterham Foodbank to the whole community – including students, staff and parents – at One School Global Kenley Campus. Your donations this week came to an amazing 256 kg, which will provide about 600 meals.

“We fully appreciate your interest and support. Every item will make a difference to an individual or family in need of emergency food support across our area.”
