PBCC volunteers help keep Victoria’s firefighters going with 10,000 meals

Plymouth Brethren Christian Church volunteers with the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) provided more than 10,000 meals to emergency workers and communities amid the bushfire crisis in Victoria.

Volunteers have been on the ground at nine locations since the fires broke out last week, giving out hot meals, sandwiches, refreshments, coffee and more than 2,000 Krispy Kreme donuts.

RRT Global Managing Director Anthony Arkcoll said the Country Fire Authority (CFA) has shown bravery and resilience in the ongoing battle against the fire emergency.

The volunteers have been on the ground alongside the CFA since 9 January, making sure they get whatever they need to keep them going during this catastrophe.

More than 500 RRT volunteers have been involved in feeding feed fire crews at Carlisle River, Ravenswood, Longwood, Cobram, Dargo, Streatham, Skipton, and Horsham.

In addition to meal support, RRT helped provide a temporary solution for Harcourt residents to allow them access to clean drinking water.

RRT has also supported the firefighting efforts with its Rapid Water System (RWS), which can pump thousands of litres of water and has the refilling capability of three fire trucks per three minutes.
