Burger bonanza at Blacktown Hospital as Rapid Relief Team (RRT) thank medical workers
The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) has staged an appreciation lunch for the staff of Blacktown Hospital to say thanks to the doctors, nurses and medical workers who take care of the community.
RRT Local Team Leader Ken Craddock said a team of 26 volunteers served 1,685 signature burgers to hospital workers.
“Our first event with Blacktown Hospital was last year, recognising the staff on International Nurses Day. We were delighted to be able to return and let these hardworking frontline staff, know that they are valued, and express our heartfelt thanks,” Mr Craddock said.
“It was a very busy couple of hours, serving up hundreds of burgers. The Blacktown Hospital staff seemed to remember how good they were with those who were unable to get down to the barbeque putting in orders for their colleagues to bring one back for them.
“Our values are based on care and compassion, and this is one way we get to give back to those who are the backbone of our healthcare service.”
The Better Foundation Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals CEO Kerrie Powers thanked the RRT volunteers for their support.
“Our healthcare staff are incredibly grateful to the RRT for their generosity and hospitality, and for lifting spirits and morale, and for providing this wonderful special occasion that would not have otherwise been possible,” Ms Powers said.
“It was wonderful watching healthcare staff enjoying a rare opportunity to briefly socialise with their colleagues from across the hospital thanks to the RRT whilst enjoying the BBQ gourmet delights!”

Blacktown Hospital provides 24-hour emergency services, intensive and high dependency care, sub-specialty acute and medical and surgical care, obstetrics, paediatrics, newborn care, and sub-acute rehabilitation. As well as inpatient acute mental health and community health services.
